Material Spotlight: NEW USE FOR A HISTORIC MATERIAL
One of our clients recently purchased a pallet of this Minton tile, which, because of its beauty and durability, was often used for floors of important buildings like the U.S. Capitol. Minton was the premier manufacturer of encaustic tile, produced by inlaying layers of different colored clays directly into the tile. The tiles' next home will be on the wall of a kitchen we are designing for a Hudson River estate north of New York City. For a fabulous and affordable new encaustic tile, we recently used tile from Villa Lagoon in the sunroom of our Fremont Georgian project.
