This award-winning lake house creates a strong sense of place by integrating naturally and easily with the adjacent homes and the traditional fabric of the neighborhood. The 1.5 story house fits the unusually narrow lakefront lot and responds to its surrounding context by combining elements of classic lake vernacular with modern forms and roof lines to match the scale of the neighboring houses.

Project goals included casually sophisticated beach house-style interiors with a strong connection between indoors and out, spectacular views of the lake, open spaces for entertaining and gallery-style walls to showcase the owners’ collection of art and photography. 

Among the many innovative design elements and materials, the house features a dramatic balance of light and dark finishes including vertical shiplap paneling, stained cabinetry and paneling, Calcatta marble tile, rubbed bronze hardware, rolled steel doors, handcrafted Italian plaster walls, wire-brushed European hard oak floors and European-inspired landscaping.
