Wabi Sabi Renovation
Just beyond the city, this renovation reconnects the cottage to its landscape while drawing inspiration from Nordic craft and warmth. Originally conceived as a seasonal retreat, the home evolved to support a year round lifestyle connected to its setting. Natural materials, carefully selected fixtures, and understated furnishings create a calm interior shaped by warm wood tones, soft light, and tactile surfaces.
The existing structure, defined by angled walls and distinctive geometry, offered moments to carve out spaces that feel both intimate and unexpected. Rather than simplify these conditions, the design leans into them, allowing the architecture to guide the experience of the home. The result is a lakeside residence that balances craft, comfort, and landscape, becoming more than a retreat and instead a place deeply connected to its surroundings.
